Over my extended Thanksgiving weekend I took some time to look through my telescope at the moon. I saw the full moon rising in the east- northeast and thought it would be a good night for a look, so I set up my Meade reflecting telescope in the kitchen and aimed it toward the window.
The moon had risen higher and the sky was darkening. The darker it became the more detail I was able to see.
There I was, a Saturday night, standing in my kitchen enjoying one of my home brewed beers and occasionally taking a peak through the eyepiece of my telescope. Marvel Enterprises and Lion''s Gate Entertainment will put a new spin on the synergy between movies and comic books with the Sept. 7 DVD release of "The Punisher." The DVD will come with a 28-page mini-comic book from Marvel that provides the back-story for the film starring John Travolta and Thomas Jane.
"The Punisher" will be the first of several comic book-themed films due for release in the fourth quarter. "Spider-Man 2" and "Shrek 2" will arrive in time for the holidays and both are expected to challenge the all-time DVD sales record of 21 million units set by "Finding Nemo" earlier this year. The new film version of "Cat-woman" starring Halle Barry and based on the DC Comics series is also expected to arrive before Christmas.
